REGULATIONS

Omgarden is a place of research and of harmonious and conscious growth of the Human Being.

Those who frequent this place, either for a relaxing break, or for taking a course or seminar or treatment, should be in accordance with the basic principles, intent and life style of the garden.

For a common harmonious growth, in tune with the local environment, it is recommended to collaborate as one can by

by keeping the spaces in order, the fields and the garden well kept and the seasonal chores accomplished  .

For chores in which tools are used , a declaration must be signed assuming full responsibility for any material damage caused or personal accidents that could occur due to misuse or lack of attention.

Whoever takes charge of an action is responsible for it.

(if you are in doubt about something, better ask one of the managers present)

It is also your responsibility to not leave valuables unattended … .

 

It is a good rule to respect all spaces, animals and people present:

* do not smoke near to the houses or in the garden. (it is possible to smoke in the street or in the parking space),and it is highly recommended to completely avoid smoking as a means of therapy.    

 

* Intoxicants are generally not welcome. (coffee, alcohol or any substances that modify our natural rhythm and  behavior. If someone wants to use them in their space, please do not involve others.)

* it is advised to handle food in the designated spaces 

 (Especially do not give food directly to any animals )

* Respect for communal areas 

  (they must be used for sharing moments together and one must respect the surrounding circumstances, silence is sacred)

* mobile phones should be used discreetly whilst respecting others, and if possible such as outdoors it is better to distance oneself.. 

* conversations , unless in a meeting with all present, are better conducted far away from the rooms of others. 

   (it is recommended in any case to speak in a low voice)

* TV , radio or stereos can be used only if unanimously decided or are needed for study purposes. For personal use headphones can be used.   

* Turn off the lights when not in use and the last one who goes to sleep must turn everything off.  

  (no leds of household appliances, Hi Fi , or external instruments should be left switched on)

* water that comes from the cistern is rainwater, or has to be purchased, so we recommend not to waste it and be conscious of it's use:  

 (use in moderation, turn off taps when not in use; check they are closed properly and that the toilet has filled to the correct level. When possible save water whilst taking a  shower with basins and use for watering plants, flowers or trees or in the kitchen for medicinal plants or vegetable plots)                 

 drink filtered water from the main kitchen, or bottles filled at the aqueduct fountains 

  Check the cleanliness of the water channels and tanks. 

  If there is no water to drink one must go to the fountains in the village or to the ulmo pine forest , and call a tanker. 

  (water falls from the roofs when raining and can be used for a while.)

* use ecological materials to wash . ... soaps, shampoos etc.    

 ( do not throw toilet paper, sanitary towels, hair and other things that are not easily disposable into the toilet or drains as we are    

  trying to activate a phytodepuration system.)

* Hair must be burnt in the fireplace, do not throw it out in the fields.

* Fires can be lit only if controlled by a manager and one must pay attention to lighters in the summer etc.  

  (the grass is dry and quickly ignites.)

* garbage must be disposed of and sorted into the appropriate bins.  

  (once every 15 days the rubbish is taken to the recycling plant in the village, the non-recyclable rubbish must be disposed in the bins as often as possible so as not to leave in reach of animals. Cigarette filters must be closed in jars and submerged in water and ever body must be responsible for the disposal of their own garbage)

* washing of clothes for residents is done according to the number of people present so as not to waste water and electricity.

* heating is supplied by burning wood or from solar panels in the central house  

  Hot water and heaters use the water heated from the solar panels or from the stoves and fireplaces. (follow directions)

* If necessary one can ask for permission to climb on to the roofs without shoes and accompanied by an adult if under 16 years of age.

* The large kitchen is normally used by those who live in the central house or who is on duty in the association headquarters. One must tidy up after preparing any type of food.

   It is possible to ask for permission to put your food in the refrigerator, indicating who it belongs to.

   DO NOT take food from anyone who is not in charge.

* Water heaters must not be used all at the same time ... normally their use is alternated depending on if the supply is switched to photovoltaic or enel. 

* if the power supply fails, the person in charge must take care of it. If no one is present follow the indications given: detach all  electrical appliances and push the mains switch on the electrical cabinet in the large kitchen near to the double door.      

(control the counter in the box outside behind the enel column in front of the kitchen)

* Animals :

* there are cats and some are wild and they are all in search of food… so be careful with yours! 

* there are some domesticated dogs who are harmless but bark when they see or hear you.

   (it is a good idea to let them smell your hands and not to make any sudden movements near them. DO NOT give or take away any food)

* in summer butterflies and nocturnal insects accumulate around the outdoor lamps so be carefully aound these  ...

 Insects : as in any country house and depending on the season one can find… . mosquitoes, ants, spiders, scorpions and centipedes, 

 use only natural repellents and try not to kill them but to accompany them out with a piece of paper. 

* you can climb the roofs at your own risk if necessary but shoes must be taken off as the water we use comes from the roofs. (children must be accompanied by an adult) 

 

Those staying at Omgarden are usually members of the association (see statutes) 

 

For this reason, residents should follow the proposed guidelines or personal practices which are in line with omgarden's main objectives.

 

In the daily life of a resident as agreed in the statute, there are specific tasks to carry out in rotation whenever possible with others, with other families and the biosphere.

During the fruit picking periods , everyone must participate or help out with the preparation of marmalades... etc ...

* The monthly contribution is of the order of 100 euros per room, plus expenses but can vary according to agreements with the board of directors.

* Donations are welcome, both as a support for the project and the also for the animals.
